Here is how you do it. Launch System Preferences and go to Network Advanced. Next, click the DNS tab and then the Add (+) button at the bottom. Now enter the following addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8. Question: Q: Microsoft word doesn't work on catalina. I have Microsoft Word 365. It does not work after the most recent upgrade in Catalina. Not just unrecognized ones, but common apps like Xcode, Microsoft Word, and even Apple’s own iWork apps. Some users say it takes over half an hour for the progress bar to fill up. This issue doesn’t affect all Catalina users, which suggests that erasing your computer and reinstalling macOS could be a solution.
Hello Beauregardhound,
Welcome to Apple Communities, please note that I do not work for Apple, nor am I affiliated with the company. My answers are based on my knowledge.
First of all, here it says that you are running macOS 11.4, and that is macOS Big Sur and the latest version. Are you getting any sort of error code when trying to launch it? It may not be an issue with your computer, but maybe an issue with the installation.
You can try these steps as troubleshooting.

1.You can start Mac in safe mode to isolate certain software as Mac starts up.
2. You can try to remove the folder to check whether you can open Word: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.word (you can press command +shift +G). Before you move, you had better copy the folder to the desktop. This step is to reset your credentials.
If you still can’t open applications, you can post back with more details, and we will continue to help. Additionally, could you please provide the information below?
1. Only Office applications can’t be opened? What about non-Office applications?
2. All Office applications can’t be opened? Did it return any error reports? If so, please help provide a screenshot of the report.
